Johnny has been carrying on as usual - he's been seeing those who wanted to, avoiding those who didn't want to see him, chain-smoking on the bridge and shuffling cards in the lounge.  This day is not very different, it is only a day for being quietly around, though perhaps he wishes he saw a friend, or a girlfriend.  In short, he is restless.

Just to make this simple. There are plants gathered from around the entire ship crowded into the main lounge and the surrounding deck and even out onto where the pool is.
